Nerve blocking injections may also be given to completely numb the area. Once numb, the fillers are prepared and strategically injected into marked points around the lips to create volume.

Results and Recovery
Minor swelling, bruising, and pain is to be expected after treatment and should subside within a few days.

The results of lip augmentation can be seen immediately after treatment with full results expected a week after treatment once swelling disappears. The results of lip fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on the filler used. Follow-up appointments may be necessary to maintain results.
